Facilitating learning and cultural cohesion across distance and difference
The National WIC Association engaged WOCC to facilitate a Health Equity Champions workshop, a high-stakes federal training requirement for a national support service. Adapting the curriculum for a hybrid delivery—virtual facilitation for an in-person audience—we coordinated on-site support, bridged a critical learning gap, and ensured participants met the intended outcomes while deepening their understanding of health equity.

Erika and Nicole served as virtual facilitators for a Washington-based audience, employing an on-site coordinator to manage the in-room experience while we guided the session remotely. Our team quickly triaged an existing curriculum to align with the federal training requirements while preserving the intended learning outcomes. Tapped as “backup” facilitators, we bridged a gap in delivery and ensured a seamless experience for both NWA and the Health Equity Champions
The workshop invited participants to:
Reflect on personal ecology and strategies for sustaining balance and effectiveness in their work.
Explore dominant communication styles and how they intersect with power and privilege.
Examine the health-related impacts of under-resourced ecosystems.
Identify actionable shifts in behavior, mindset, and environment to better align practice with the lived experiences of patients and communities.
