Cultivating leadership and liberation for Black women

The Collaborative Cohort is WOCC’s flagship program, designed to affirm the lived experiences of women of color while building tools for community change. Erika and Nicole developed the program’s curriculum, journal, website, promotional materials, and a participant story video series, creating an identity-centered experience that moves Black women toward autonomy, connection, and liberation.

  • Combining seminars, collaboration sessions, journaling, skill shares, and “Magic Hours,” the Cohort is our theory of change in action through an immersive learning experience that fosters community connection, critical analysis, and creative problem-solving.

Our learning framework centers Personal Ecology, modeling culturally responsive emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and vulnerability. Moving to a communal lens, collaborators become idea generators, hypothesis testers, and action researchers, exploring local issues and designing solutions aligned with WOCC’s engagement tracks: Justice & Liberation, Facilitator Training, Holistic Health, and Artistic Expression

    • Established a replicable program model rooted in WOCC’s theory of change and identity-centered pedagogy.

    • Designed and produced cohesive program materials, from digital presence to tactile learning tools.

    • Provided an inclusive space for over 100 women of color to reflect, share, and create action plans for community change.

    • Supported participant-led projects addressing systemic issues through WOCC’s engagement tracks.

    • Amplified participant voices through video storytelling, strengthening visibility and connection.

Collectively, the Collaborative Cohort has validated the existence, curiosity, and leadership of women of color, equipping them with tools, networks, and confidence to enact change in their communities.

  • The Collaborative Cohort is for our adult collaborators from across industries and backgrounds
